Local Nonprofit ‘NonProphet’ Pushes For Wife of Gordon B. Hinckley on $20 Bill

As US Treasury Secretary Jack Lew prepares his announcement that a woman will replace imperialist dolt Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill, a local nonprofit, ‘NonProphet,’ is making a last-minute push for the late Gordon B. Hinckley’s wife to grace the oft-used greenback.

“I can’t think of a worthier replacement than Gordon B. Hinckley’s wife. She lived a full, impressive life admirable to all,” said Jamie Brooks, executive director of NonProphet. “Gordon B. Hinckley’s wife is truly a standard bearer for womanhood.”

Those at NonProphet decided to act after David Arquette’s sister gave her Oscar acceptance speech in 2015 to rally Americans behind greater gender equality and equal pay: “To every woman who gave birth to every taxpayer and citizen of this nation, we have fought for everybody’s equal rights, it is our time to have wage equality once and for all and equal rights for women in the United States of America.”

The speech sparked Brooks to draft the bylaws, future articles of incorporation, 501(c)(3) exemptions, and logos for NonProphet. “I had an idea for a different name, but my loving husband came up with NonProphet, and I just love the homonym–he’s so funny!”

Brooks says the intention of the nonprofit is to give a voice to women’s issues in a cordial, tolerant, forgiving, open-minded way. Brooks repeatedly assured, “don’t worry, we’re not like those feminists.”

Putting Gordon B. Hinckley’s wife on the $20 bill is the first action of the nonprofit and is based on the wider goals of Women On 20s, a nonprofit group devoted to placing a woman’s face on US currency. Women On 20s held an online vote for their choice among 15 inspiring American women in history; Harriet Tubman was the eventual winner.

“We know it’s a long shot since Gordon B. Hinckley’s wife isn’t as widely known as Harriet Tubman, but the Lord loves issuing tender mercies time and time again,” said Brooks. “Her middle name might as well be ‘Pay,’ because we sincerely hope with every fiber of our being that Gordon B. Hinckley’s wife will be on the $20 bill!”
